Let it Go!

If you are a mum of a girl between the age of 0-10 you’ll know that the subject header for today’s email is THAT song from Disney’s movie, “Frozen”.

If you don’t know what I’m on about, go to YouTube and type in “Let It Go”.

Max and Freddie have told me  – with a distinctly boyish sneer of disgust -  that “Let It Go” is one of the most played videos on You Tube and that all the girls love it. They still seem to like singing it though.  ;)

I think the song has inspired young girls so much because it’s a song that gives them permission to be themselves.

The message is:
“I’m going to be ME now, so DEAL with it, buster!”

That’s not actually a line from the song, but these are:

“Let it go, let it go.

And I’ll rise like the break of dawn.

Let it go, let it go

That perfect girl is gone

Here I stand, in the light of day.”

Wouldn’t it be nice to let it go and “rise like the break of dawn”? To stop being “that perfect girl” and just be “in the light of day”?

Letting go is something I’ve been consciously working on myself this year.

With any big change in our lives comes great learning and I’ve learnt a lot about the importance of letting it go. For me, learning to let go has been not just a “nice to have” but a necessity.   If I hadn’t learnt to let a lot of “stuff” go, then I’d be sitting in a heap in a corner by now, curled up, sucking my thumb and engaged in foetal rocking!

As a professional woman with children, you are probably driven, energetic and determined. You are probably adept at fitting things into gaps of time and getting stuff done.  And you are probably always on the go.
But the problem with being always on the go is that it can lead to overwhelm, exhaustion, depression and burnout.

Not good.

Life is all about balance – we know that, of course.

But most of us are too caught up in the “swirling storm” to stop and observe and redress our crazy busy non-stop lives.

When were YOU last “At one with the wind and sky?”

;) I’m really getting into these “Frozen/Let It Go” lyrics!

I’d like to share with you my own story of “Letting Go” and I’m going to do so as part of a FREE online event being run by Rachel Swann.

Rachel is running “The BIG VIRTUAL DETOX” and it’s happening this June.  Rachel will interview me and 9 other successful women in business around one question:

“What do you need to let go of to create success?”

During this interview, I will share:

  • How to let go of perfection, even when you are a twitchy, type A, do-it-all, be-it-all, never-stop NUTTER
  • How to be OK with everything not being OK
  • The one daily habit that will make you calmer, more resilient and more able to deal with everything from bickering children to conflict at work
  • Simple and effective ways to stay sane when you start to feel overwhelmed
  • How to stop listening to the negative voices in your head!

If you’ve watched any of my videos, attended any of my classes or you have ever worked with me, you’ll know that I am honest, open, down-to-earth and I don’t stand on a pedestal.

During my interview with Rachel, I particularly want to share with you how I have navigated a significant transition in my own life this year and the importance of learning how to “let go”.

If YOU are facing a big change, transition or challenge in your life, then you will want to hear this interview. It’s completely FREE.

Click here to register now (will take you about 15 seconds!) for this exclusive FREE event and learn “How to Let Go to Create Success”.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with one question:

“What one thing can you let go of this weekend so that you can really enjoy it?”

That question is also a tweetable, which means you can click to tweet!  Please share the luuurve!

Have a fabulous weekend!
