Professional Coaching for working mums and mumpreneurs – client success stories

Who do we coach?  And a few Client Stories

At Coaching Mums, we partner with professional working mums, mumpreneurs and new and trainee coaches who are also mums.  Our clients come to us wanting to achieve many different things, but all of them have one thing in common – they juggle many roles, the most precious role of which is “mother”!

If you’ve never been coached before, it’s difficult to “get” both what to expect during a coaching session and more importantly, how you’ll benefit from one of our professional coaching programmes.

So instead, scroll down this page and click to read the stories of a few of our clients “in their own words”. The client who tell their stories here have kindly given permission to use their real names.

At Coaching Mums, we know it’s important that you trust the testimonials and endorsements you read.  If you’d like to verify any of our testimonials – either those you read below or others – email us and we’ll ask permission from that particular client to let you have their contact details.

Client Story: The marketing manager wanting to transition from a full time job to full time coaching (and who did just that)

Living her dreams!

“Where do I begin, from our initial consultation Amanda immediately put me at ease. I was feeling anxious, and despite myself training to become a coach, felt sceptical that would I really achieve my goals. I had been through so many goal development / time management sessions that I was sceptical that I would be able to move forward. At the end of our first session I already felt a huge burden had been lifted from just having someone who was listening to me without judgement or telling me what to do and how to run my life!

For the first time in a long long time, probably since I got married, I feel 100% content with my life – in all areas of my life: in my relationship with my husband,as a Mum, at work, embarking on my new career, my friends, and my family; what more could I want!  I still need to reach my financial targets but I am moving in the right direction. I can now look myself in the mirror with total confidence and feel proud of me and of what I'm doing with my life. I no longer feel life is passing me by. As a result of this there have been huge benefits!

- I'm still working long hours but I don't feel stressed because the difference now is I know what I want, why I want it and I'm doing what I want.

- I have more energy

- My relationship with my husband is back to what it was like when we married

- My relationships in general are better because I'm more relaxed and am making the time for other people - I'm more open to letting other people in.

- I'm still doing the same 'stuff' as before but I'm finding time to make time for the really important things in life - my family and friends.

- I have finally got to the core, where Amanda coached me to discover my limiting beliefs I used to have about money and finance. I have totally changed my attitude, beliefs and habits towards money. I did take drastic steps (drastic for me), but with these shock tactics, Amanda was with me every step.

A life coach is just that, a coach. Just like an Olympic sports coach - I've won the gold medal in my life - I'm living my dreams.

Thank you Amanda.”

Epilogue: Just months after writing this email, Jennifer quit her job and set up her coaching practice. She is now a successful executive coach.

Client Story: Building a Profitable Service Business from Home

The work at home Mumpreneur with big ambitions

“Over the past six months, Amanda has been an integral part of both my personal growth and the success of my business. As a mother experiencing the challenges of juggling a business with bringing up 2 children, I find it [very useful] being coached by someone who fully understands my situation, having been there herself.

Amanda ensures I remain focused on my business goals and on the goals in my personal life. She helps me to find a solution to the most complex of problems; and guides me when I can’t see the wood for the trees! I have also found the practical advice offered by Amanda and her willingness to act as a ‘second pair of eyes’ at times, an invaluable input to my business.

Amanda has had a positive impact on all aspects of my life and I whole-heartedly recommend having her as a coach.”

Client Story: The Executive Mum Who Faced Career Uncertainty After Maternity Leave

Making Wise Choices and Feeling Great About Her Life

"I started coaching sessions with Amanda because I was deeply unhappy with having to return to work after maternity leave and faced career upheaval and possible redundancy with a company restructure.  I felt torn about leaving my child, uncertain about the future, and I totally lacked self-confidence in the workplace after being at home for a year.  I felt it was important to explore my options before making any irreversible decisions.

Coaching has given me a quiet space to review my life and work out what makes me feel happy and secure, and a renewed confidence in my skills and abilities.  I feel happy again and with the decisions I’ve made.

I would speak to Amanda three times a month on the phone and could email her at any time.  I prepared before each session by filling out a focus form that Amanda and I both used to shape the session.  The forms showed what the previous week’s successes, realisations, opportunities and challenges have been along with upcoming ones.

Throughout the session, Amanda would ask questions formulated to encourage me to really analyse what I wanted, what was preventing me from getting there, and the options available to achieve my goals.  Amanda is a persistent (and extremely charming) interrogator and works hard to get to the nub of a dilemma or sticking point.

Sometimes her silences between questions would make me squirm, but they were always an effective way of making me admit to myself that I was dodging an issue.  Amanda would also set exercises to encourage me to look at my life with fresh perspective.  I got a much better understanding of myself as a result of my work with Amanda.

I probably had a misconception at the start of the sessions that I needed to make dramatic changes to my life, but I came to realise that (for me, personally) I simply needed to acknowledge what I loved about my life and make it work better for me and my situation.

I haven’t made any big life changes as a result, but I know that the choices I have made since coaching have been well-informed ones and all positive.  And I feel that I’m doing the best I possibly can in my home life and at work, and that I don't have to be perfect."

Client Story: Having it All: The high flying career, part time hours, the house in the country AND a family

The "High Flyer" Executive Working Mum

"I first contacted Amanda when my eldest daughter was 18 months old and I had just started a new, full time job. Amanda helped me to establish a way of working that ensured I delivered my best at work whilst also feeling like I was a good Mum as well.

The coaching I received at this time was a complete life-line helping me to get a sense of perspective of what was reasonable to expect from myself and how to leave the guilt behind! Amanda taught me I could have it all - a great career and be a happy parent. One of the most powerful things we did was a 5-year vision which helped me to focus on what I wanted out of my life both now and in the future.

Three years later that vision has been delivered ahead of schedule!I am now working 3 days a week, have just been promoted into a really great challenging role, am living in the country having left London for a better quality of life for our kids and had a second baby. Phew! Where did I find the time! Coaching really did help me to find out what's important to me and focus my attention on the right things -without it I would still be focusing on what I couldn't possibly achieve rather than on what really mattered."
